It’s been a year since I added to this blog. I’m trying out a new gallery system that can integrate into Lightroom to make it a bit easier to transfer photos from Lightroom.
These following images are my most recent Bacchus Marsh and District Photography Club competition entries. This is June 2024, my most successful result, 3 honours, 2 Judge’s Choice and a EDI of the night.
The EDI section subject was Bacchus Marsh or Melton surrounds, you could only take photos within a designated boundary of the towns. We took it as trusting that images were taken in those locations, we don’t have any major prizes. My photos were taken at Melton Entertainment Park (formerly Tabcorp Park) at a Trots meeting and The Willows an old homestead. The horse and driver won EDI of the night and Judge’s Choice. I was very happy with this result I love both these images, the horse and driver managing to get some golden hour sunlight and the dogs with their owner at a training session show great love and affection from both sides.
The Print section subject was Autumn, we had organised a club outing to Macedon and Mount Macedon and I tried to get some less usual perspectives, and I think I achieved that with my shot from lying on my back to shoot into the branches and leaves from below, the red contrasting with the grey bark. That shot also got Judge’s Choice and an honour. The Leaves on the ground didn’t manage a merit or honour, I forget the exact criticism of the image, a bit flat and I tend to agree, I was struggling to find a good image to use as my second submission.
